Saint Andrew

St. Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland.

He was a disciple of Jesus Christ and originally a disciple of John the Baptist. His brother was Simon Peter.

Tradition says Andrew traveled as a missionary and many people learned to love God as a result. He was put to death in Greece on a cross shaped like the English letter X. This Blue X shape forms part on the british flag - the Union Jack

Tradition says that relics of Andrew were brought from Greece to Scotland in the 8th century and are buried in the Scottish town of St. Andrew's.

St Andrew's Day is November 30th.
